Green Kick Of The Season R1: Rondo Hyperposites v JET Kamikaze II’s

The 2012/13 NBA season did not pan out the way it was supposed to for the Boston Celtics. One positive we can take away from the season was the shoe game of many Celtics. They stood up in the kick department and showed us some heat.

To celebrate this season’s best kicks, I have selected the best 16 kicks from the weekly Green Kick Of The Week to battle it out. It is now up to you, our readers who will crown the Green Kick of the Season!

So let’s get this battle underway!

Round 1

First up, we have these kicks in the ring:

Rajon Rondo‘s Nike Hyperposite’s in the black/volt colourway.

Dallas Mavericks v Boston Celtics

versus

Jason Terry‘s Reebok Kamikaze II’s in the black/green colourway.

Boston Celtics v New York Knicks - Game One

Check back next week for the results of this contest and to see who battles it out next.

Green Kick Of The Week feat Jason Terry’s Reebok Kamikaze II

The Playoffs are here! And with that, I hope to see some awesome kicks coming up. This week we saw Jason Terry bring out a great pair of kicks against the Knicks in Game 1.

This weeks winner of KOTW is Jason Terry  and his awesome Reebok Kamikaze II’s.  Terry has been wearing Kamikaze’s for a majority of the season, but this colourway caught my eye.

Boston Celtics v New York Knicks - Game One

Let’s not beat around the bush, Terry had an awful match against the Knicks. He was a non-factor and couldn’t find his range. I hope he can find his 2011 Playoffs form soon, before it’s too late.

His shoe game was much better. These kicks look great. I really like Kamikaze’s and this colourway is one of the best I’ve seen. The green and black outer go together well with the unique design of the shoe.

Boston Celtics v New York Knicks - Game One

Of course, I’d rather be writing about Terry coming into his own in the Playoffs, but for now, his shoe game is better than his shooting game.

I look forward to seeing what the JET can produce in the Playoffs and I’m hoping we see him drain many shots from beyond the arc.

Do you think the JET should keep ‘em or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Avery Bradley’s Adidas Crazy Quick

The Playoffs are almost here and I can hardly wait! With just six regular season games remaining for the Celtics, and a Playoff spot clinched, it’s hard not to look ahead. The play becomes very intense, and I hope the sneaker game does the same.

For now, I’ll take a look back at the pair of kicks that caught my eye from the past week.

This week’s winner of KOTW is Avery Bradley and his Adidas Crazy Quick’s. This was Avery’s first game in the recently released Crazy Quick’s. These kicks were debuted by Washington point guard, John Wall, about a month ago.

Clevland Cavaliers v Boston Celtics

Bradley wore these in the disappointing loss to Cleveland earlier today. Interestingly, he only wore them in the first half and changed to a grey pair of Adidas AdiZero Crazy Light 2′s for the second half.

Does this mean we won’t see them again? We’ll find out soon enough, but I certainly hope we see them again.

Clevland Cavaliers v Boston Celtics

These are built for the quick basketballer:

“From making explosive cuts into the lane, grabbing a loose ball or being a lock-down defender, quick is the key to elevating to the next level,” says Robbie Fuller, adidas advanced footwear designer. “We designed the Crazy Quick with athletes in mind. Every player needs to be quick to out-perform the competition and this shoe gives them a unique advantage.” – slamonline.com

Below is a close up of the Adidas Crazy Quick colourway made specifically for John Wall.

I really like these kicks. Bradley wore the plainer white colourway, I would love to see him rock a green colourway.

Do you think Bradley’s on a winner with these kicks? Do you think ‘The Game Changer’ should keep ‘em, or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Terrence William’s Air Jordan XX8

Terrence Williams has been knocking on the door to win KOTW since his arrival to the Celtics. This week I decided it was about time he got some credit.

This week Williams wins KOTW with his Air Jordan XX8’s. He has worn these kicks since joining the team in mid February.

Atlanta Hawks v Boston Celtics

Williams has worn the green colourway for home games and often the black colourway for away games. These kicks were one of the biggest releases of this year, and certainly made some noise in the kicks world. The XX8’s are one of the most unusual shoes ever made.air-jordan-xx8-release-reminder

They can be worn in two ways; zipped up or unzipped. Williams has been wearing them zipped up, I personally like them better zipped down.

Williams is a huge sneaker head, with rumours he owns over 300 pairs of kicks. WOW!  I would love to see him bring out a different pair of Jordan’s, but for the time being, it seems he is quite content with the XX8’s.

Boston Celtics v Cleveland Cavaliers

Do you like these Jordan’s zipped up or unzipped? Do you think Terrence Williams should keep ‘em, or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Jordan Crawford’s ‘Light Graphite’ Air Jordan 14

It’s that time of the week again to take a look back at who caught my eye in the kicks department in the past week.

This weeks winner of KOTW  is Jordan Crawford and his pair of Light Graphite’ Air Jordan 14’s. It’s great to see a few of the new Celtic’s taking a lot of care with their choice of shoes. Terrence Williams, for example has been rocking the Air Jordan XX8’s since joining the team.

Boston Celtics v New Orleans Hornets

These are a different looking shoe, which definitely caught my eye from the moment I saw Crawford rocking them.

These are not my favourite Jordan’s, but I can see why many people do like them. The grey outer combined with a  nubuck upper and black highlights doesn’t disappoint the Jordan enthusiast.

Crawford has worn these kicks on and off for a while now, but I thought it was about time to give him some credit. He wore them this week against the Hornets. These shoes look fast, which is the perfect fit for Crawford and his quick drives to the basket and pull up jumpers.

I’m sure we’ll see Crawford wearing these again, don’t be surprised if he pulls them on today against the Grizzlies.

What do you think of these kicks? Do you think Jordan Crawford should keep ‘em or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Courtney Lee’s Air Jordan VII ‘Golden Moments’

As the Celtics look forward to playing Miami tomorrow, and hopefully breaking their 22 game winning streak, I’ll be looking back at the best pair of kicks of the past week.

This weeks winner of KOTW is Courtney Lee with his awesome pair of Air Jordan VII ‘Golden Moments’. These kicks looked great with the amazing St. Patrick’s Day uniform.

Boston Herald Media

Lee has been rocking Nike’s and Jordan’s all season. He has been wearing many retro’s, along with some newer kicks. This particular pair and his Nike Air Penny V’s, which he wore earlier in the season, have caught my eye the most this season.

Lee looked very comfortable in these shoes. He put together a nice game, filling the stat sheet with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a well-rounded effort.

Fans with a good memory might remember that Jared Sullinger wore these for media day photos before the start of this season. From memory, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think Sullinger ever wore these on the court, so it was nice to see Lee bring them out against Charlotte.

These Jordan’s are a favourite of mine, and I can definitely see why Lee chose to wear these against the Bobcats on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day. I really like the simple black outer with the gold lining.

What are your thoughts on these Jordan’s? Do you think Courtney Lee should keep ‘em or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Jason Terry’s Reebok Sublite Pro Rise

Let’s face the facts. Jason Terry did exactly what we expect from him in the fantastic OT win over Hawks; hit a game clinching shot! The JET truly took off in OT and helped the Celtics record a much-needed win over a Conference rival.

The JET did all this in an eye-catching pair of Reebok Sublite Pro Rise, which earned him this week’s KOTW. These kicks jumped out at me immediately. They feature a camouflage outer mixed with what looks like fighter jet detailing, which makes perfect sense that the JET would wear them.

Atlanta Hawks v Boston Celtics

To be perfectly honest I’m not much of an expert on Reebook’s and couldn’t figure out what Terry was wearing. I have to thank @Celtkicks from Red’s Army for the heads up!

This is an amazing colourway to say the least. Reebok have done a great job with Terry this season, supplying him with a large array of retro and modern kicks to rock on the court.

Atlanta Hawks Vs. Boston Celtics At TD Garden

The JET has worn many different Reebok’s this season and won KOTW earlier this year with his Reebok Answer IV’s. Whilst the Answer IV’s have much more history and are known for their uniqueness, this colourway of the Sublite Pro Rise gives them a good run for their money.

It will be interesting to see if Terry brings out this colourway again, I sure hope he does! Especially if can continue to knock down huge shots in them.

Atlanta Hawks Vs. Boston Celtics At TD Garden

What are your thoughts on this interesting colourway? Do you think The JET should keep ‘em or dump ‘em?

Green Kick Of The Week feat Jeff Green’s Nike Air Max Hyperaggressor

Time does not seem to fly at all this season isn’t it? We have reached the All Star Weekend at long last, and let us just say it has been an eventful season thus far for the C’s; a season full of heartbreaking injuries, heartwarming team effort and not forgetting of course, the awesome kicks. It is now time to introduce another pair of kicks that have caught my eye.

This week’s winner of KOTW is Jeff Green and his Nike Air Max Hyperaggressor. Green has been playing fantastic lately and coincidence or not, he has been wearing these kicks while doing it. It sounds like the Hyperaggressor is exactly what the Doc ordered.

Chicago Bulls v Boston Celtics

These kicks are available in a large range of colourways, and naturally Green went for the green and white colourway, as befits a Celtic. I might be just that teensy bit biased behind the green goggles, but I think this particular colourway is the best of the lot. Don’t you agree? I know you do.

These kicks might not be the flashiest pair that has been featured on KOTW  this season, yet the design and overall look of the shoe just works. The laidback green and white theme combined with the trademark Nike swoosh just blends so well with the sneaker design.

24867300

Green bought out these Nike sneakers in every game for the past week. He has been leading the Celtics revival in many ways: with his energy off the bench, late game heroics, huge dunks and huge scoring.

I don’t want to jinx him or the Celtics by stating the obvious, but it seems that Green is finally putting all that ‘talent’ and ‘potential’ together on a consistent basis. Here’s hoping he can keep it up!

Boston Celtics v Charlotte Bobcats

Personally, I really like these kicks and they are even more likeable because of what ‘The Green Machine’ has been able to do in them.  I would love to see these kicks featured on many more poster dunks in the coming weeks when Green goes on his his cold-blooded, yet deranged axe murderer routine and does the monster one-handed jam routine on multiple hapless defenders.

What do you think of these Nike kicks, do you want Jeff Green to keep ‘em or dump ‘em? Keep the sneaker love coming – green-tinted naturally!

Green Kick Of The Week feat Avery Bradley’s Adidas Real Deal II’s

What a very positive week it has been! Six wins in a row is a great step towards getting our season back on track, and the team effort has been stronger than ever; let us all hope the Celtics can keep it up. With that said, let us take a look at who performed the best in the shoe game this past week.

This week’s winner of KOTW is Avery Bradley and his Adidas Real Deal II‘s. Bradley was spotted wearing these kicks in late January, and has been swapping back and forth with the Adidas Crazy Light’s ever since. Avery has showed off these kicks out a few times this week, which incidentally included the wins over Orlando and Toronto. Good luck charms you reckon? We think so too!

Since his return, Bradley has been the defensive dynamo we have all come to know and love. One thing he is adding to his ongoing list of talents is a magnificent shoe game. Bradley has won our KOTW once before and with his efforts this week, he has been elected as the sure winner once again.

The Real Deal II sneakers were first released way back in 1997 and proved to be a hit for Adidas with their innovative and unique design.

Personally, I think these kicks are terrific and show that Nike and Jordan aren’t the only ones in the sneaker market out there. I’d love to see ‘The Game Changer’ wearing these Adidas retros on a regular basis.

Bradley chose the awesome green/black/white colourway, as worn by past Celtic Antoine Walker – a colourway that did not disappoint in the least. Take a look at the photo below to see the detail of the shoe, it truly is very different.

Adidas Real Deal II in green/black/white colourway

Who thinks Avery Bradley is on a winner with these Adidas kicks, would you want ‘The Game Changer’ to keep ‘em or dump ‘em? Let us know!

Green Kick Of The Week feat Courtney Lee’s Nike Air Penny V’s

Rajon Rondo’s ACL injury was a double tragedy. With our best player and main sneakerhead out for the remainder of the season, we have no choice but to look for our KOTW in new places. Have no doubts, Rondo will be greatly missed on the court for his inspirational play and for his flashy kicks. Thank you for a great season Mr. Triple Double, here’s to a speedy recovery.

With that said, let us shift focus to the player who caught my eye this week. This week’s KOTW winner is Courtney Lee and his Nike Air Penny V’s. He bought out these kicks in the two wins against Miami and Sacramento.

Courtney Lee, Jason Thompson, DeMarcus Cousins, Francisco Garcia, Tyreke Evans

Lee has been swapping back and forth between different Nike’s all season long, but these are by far my favourite. These kicks have long been one of the most unique in the game. The yellow accents along with the icy translucent sole complement the subdued black and grey outer to make these a prominent stand out from the crowd.

Nike-Air-Penny-V-Cool-Grey-Tour-Yellow-01

Over the years, Nike has released many colourways of this classic shoe. This particular pair was released on the 26th of December, 2012 in the U.S.A.

Lee is one half of ‘The Pitbulls’, with Avery Bradley forming the other half, a recent moniker Molly McGrath coined in tribute to their all-out defensive pressure. These kicks certainly aren’t hindering Lee’s performace! You will very rarely see him slip over on the court with the great traction control these sneakers offer.

Miami Heat v Boston Celtics

I would love to see Courtney keep pulling out the Nike Air Penny’s, either with this colourway or mixing it up with a new colourway.

What does everyone else think about these kicks? Let us know in the comments if you think Lee should keep loving ‘em or dump ‘em.
