2014 may not have been the best year for the Celtics on the court, but there was definitely some heat in the kicks department.
I have compiled a list of the top five green kicks of 2014, in no particular order.
Rajon Rondo – ANTA RR1
Rajon Rondo debuted his ‘Anta RR1’ in his return to the court against the Lakers in January. In what was his first game back from his ACL tear, Rondo performed well in his first signature shoe with the Chinese brand.
During 2014 Rondo wore many different colourways of the RR1, but I chose this black colourway because it was hard to go past a man wearing his own signature shoe for the very first time.
Rondo also debuted his second signature shoe with Anta in the first game of the 2014-15 season against the Nets. Since his move to Dallas there have been many new colourways of that shoe too, it’s just a pity they are now blue colourways, not green.
Phil Pressey – Nike Air Zoom ‘The Glove’
Phil Pressey proved to be one of the standout players in the kick game during his rookie season with the Celtics.
The Nike Glove is a sneakerhead favourite because of its extremely unique design, just like the player the kicks were made for; Gary Payton. They can be worn either zipped up or down, Pressey chose to go with the zipped up look.
Pressey wore these on multiple occasions and proved to be one his go-to pair of kicks. He also laced up Nike KD’s among other Nike’s.
Avery Bradley – Adidas Crazy 1 ‘Awards Season’
Avery Bradley loves to rock some great Adidas kicks, and 2014 was no exception.
He had many contending pairs of shoes that could have made this list but I decided to go with his golden pair of Adidas Crazy 1’s. Avery certainly stood out from the crowd.
These Crazy 1’s were worn by Bradley in multiple games, highlighted by the time he wore them with the Celtics St Patrick’s Day uniform.
Kelly Olynyk – Nike KD VI
Kelly Olynyk usually wore relatively reserved pairs of kicks in his rookie season, but that was not the case at All Star Weekend.
Olynyk, a starter in the Rising Stars Challenge, rocked a never before seen colourway of the Nike KD VI. These kicks were personally made for Olynyk.
With this pair of Nike KD’s, Olynyk was able to keep up in the kicks department on what is always an ultra-competitive weekend for kicks.
Jared Sullinger – Air Jordan XX8 ‘BHM’
The BHM colourway of Nike’s and Jordan’s are always a treat for sneakerheads. This was no exception in 2014, especially the Air Jordan XX8 version.
Sullinger wore Jordan’s all year long and often switched it up, but in my opinion these were his best pair of J’s.
I look forward to seeing what Sullinger rocks throughout 2015, because as a Jordan athlete he has plenty of heat at his disposal.
